Student Reports

The new reports are really great.
We can truly say we are monitoring holistic progress.

Apricot’s student tracking reports drill deeply into each subject. Beyond an overview of how a student is performing and progressing in Maths or English (or any subject), each course topic and their concomitant objectives are also tracked. For example, you will know exactly how each student is progressing in Numbers, or Algebra, or Probability, etc. This provides teachers, students, and clients with essential information about exactly where a student is excelling and where their weaknesses lie. Our teachers use this information to inform their ILPs, subsequent lesson plans, and revision concentration. This is the most transparent method we have found for communicating exactly where students are and what they most need to improve.

All attendance, assignment grades & comments, and teacher reports are available to students, teachers, and schools/clients. Weekly reports consist of soft skills measurements (settled to work, motivation, confidence, punctuality and progress (measured by National Curriculum Levels/GCSE/A Level grades). Teachers comment weekly on work undertaken and student response. Half-termly reports are expanded to include ILPs with learning goals and actions required to achieve those goals, as well as in-depth teacher comments.

Reporting

Our referral process asks that identifiable, expected outcomes are expressed when a new student joins Apricot. Progress can then be monitored against this expectation. Measurements are made throughout the course regarding reintegration to school or progression to college or work, and initial outcomes are revisited each half-term to ensure the student is on track.

 

Apricot’s learning platform is home to several activity monitors. In the Retention Centre, we can observe where students are having issues around attendance, grades, platform activity or access. In the Class Reports section, we can generate activity reports on the use of course resource areas. Student performance, aligned against subject-specific learning objectives, may also be run from within Class Reports.

 

Weekly reporting assesses the soft skills of students’ punctuality, confidence, motivation, general progress, and how well they settle to work. An NC Level/Progress 8 Level/GCSE grade is also awarded weekly to evidence even the smallest progression steps made by students. Half-Termly Reports include individual learning goals and actions needed to achieve those goals and go on to the next level of attainment.

 

Soft skills as well as academic progress are reported weekly on our learning platform, and these can be charted for each student. This gives us impact data so we can develop policies to improve outcomes for all students. Our Performance Reporting System allows us to align all weekly marks and every assignment students undertake with specific learning objectives. Students’ performance can then be measured against these learning objectives/goals in every course and reported on termly, allowing for continuous monitoring and generation of progress data over several weeks or months for each student.

 

Apricot uses a series of Alfiesoft initial assessments that provide an effective baseline for students. Initial assessments are completed as homework over a two week period. The last thing any disengaged child wants to do is start a new academic venture by taking a barrage of tests. Student attitude and motivation are keys to success, especially for vulnerable students. By spreading out assessments and using that time to reinforce subject knowledge in lessons, Apricot gets the sound baseline measure they need while keeping students positive. Once a reliable baseline has been established, lessons can more quickly be differentiated for learners.

 

Apricot’s class sizes are small and allow teachers and students to form positive, personal bonds. The combination of good baseline data, and the intimate knowledge of their students’ strengths and weaknesses through participatory lessons, affords Apricot’s teachers the ability to focus on each student’s areas of need and provide them with an environment capable of addressing their academic weaknesses in interactive and engaging ways.
