Teacher

I have been teaching for 13 years and with Apricot since 2015. I love online learning as it gives students the opportunity to learn at their own pace and to believe in themselves when other traditional methods of education may have not worked. It’s great to see a student come into Apricot who then goes onto get the qualifications that they need when they never thought that possible!

The online classroom can work really well as you have the ability to personalise a student’s lesson whether that be interaction through online educational games, videos or looking at content. The array of educational tools available, especially those online, has increased significantly and it has made education more accessible for all students. It creates a sense of excitement when they are able to engage interactively.

My experience working with Apricot has been a wholly positive one as, ultimately, it’s about making sure a student succeeds and reaches their potential. I have taught some students who have come in not believing in themselves, however when they leave, no matter how long they have been with us, we have made a positive contribution. It shouldn’t always be about getting through the syllabus or ticking boxes, it should be about making sure that a student leaves with positive self-esteem and knowing that any progress made is a huge achievement on their part!

Outside of Apricot I am married with three young children who keep me very busy! I enjoy keeping fit through doing Clubbercise and swimming. When I am at home, I enjoy baking and being creative by cooking new meals.
